Bartenders FAQ

Q. Where are you located and how far do you travel?

A. We are located on the North Shore area of Massachusetts. We are available for most areas of Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and Southern Maine.

Q. Do you employ licensed bartenders?

A. There is no such thing as a licensed bartender in Massachusetts. An individual, or a partnership that forms a company for the purpose of selling alcohol must obtain a license, however a bartender does not. Some event locations seem to confuse “licensed” with “certified”. There is no state law that requires a bartender to be certified in responsible alcohol service, however we only employ those that have passed an industry recognized program.

Q. Will you sell alcohol at my event?

A. Massachusetts’s law is very specific about this. We cannot provide or sell alcohol in any way.
There are some bartending services that will offer to do this. In doing so, they are in violation of the law. Some believe that they can apply for, and receive, a special permit from the municipality. Again, Massachusetts’s law is very specific. Only a bona fide, not for profit entity may apply for and receive a special or “one day” permit to sell alcohol.

Q. What can you do?

A. We can, and will provide suggestions as to what to buy and how much. We can make suggestions on where to buy. We can provide anything else that you may require including linens, glassware, soda, mixers, ice, etc.

Q. Do you carry liquor liability insurance?

A. We can obtain insurance for your event, if need be. However, in most cases, it is not an issue. First and foremost, we recognize our responsibility to serve alcohol with care. Robert is certified to train responsible alcohol service thru the Educational Department of the National Restaurant Association, and has been doing so since 1992. All bartenders are certified as well.

If the event were being held at your home, a less expensive option would be to check with your homeowner’s insurance company about coverage for the day.
